Observation Search Page
Search
The Chandra Observation Catalog will be searched, based on the constraints
entered on this page. Constraints may be specified for any, all, or none
of the fields. If no value is entered for a field, that field is ignored for
the search. If values are specified for a field, only observations that satisfy
all of the search constraints are returned.
This also applies to the multiple selection lists.
The default for most lists is nothing selected. This is the equivalent to a blank
data entry field (i.e. it won't be used as a search constraint.) For the
multiple selection lists, no values selected is equivalent to all values selected.
For more information see Multiple Selection Lists
Resolve Name
The user may use the Resolve Name option to find the position
of a target object for a position search. The RA and Dec fields will be
filled with the position of the requested object.
Reset
Restore all of the fields to the default values.
Multiple Selection Lists
- The user may select none, any or all of the values in the list
- Selecting none of the values in the list is the equivalent of
selecting all of the values in the list (i.e. not selecting anything will
cause the search to ignore that field, which is the same as
using the field in the search with all possible values selected)
- It is browser dependent how the user unselects a single value
(so that no values are selected after some were previously selected)
- To unselect a single value in most newer browsers, hold the control
key down while clicking the mouse
- Some example browsers are listed below along with what
the user needs to click to unselect a single value:
| Netscape 6+ | <ctrl> + mouse click |
| Mozilla 5.0 | <ctrl> + mouse click |
| IE 5.5 | <ctrl> + mouse click |
| Netscape 4.7 | mouse click |

Retrieval List Page
Browse Products
Display a list of data products for the selected observations.
All users are allowed to browse all data products, including proprietary
ones.
Retrieve Products
Retrieve the data products specified by the selection
on this page. All users are allowed to retrieve all products for public
observations and the public products for proprietaryobservations. Users
who log into a privileged archive account (e.g., a PI or a proposal account)
will, in addition, be able to retrieve data products that are proprietary.
The retrieved data products will be written to a tar file and the user
will be advised on how to retrieve the tar file. Note that when an unauthorized
user asks for products from a proprietary observation, (s)he will receive
all products from that observation that are public, but not receive a warning
that not all products are included.

Archive Login Page
This page allows the user to log in to a privileged archive account. By default, WebChaser provides
browsing access to all data products of all observations and retrieval
access to all products of all public observations and all public
products of proprietary observations. Logging in to a proprietary
account further provides the user with retrieval access to the
proprietary products to which that account is authorized.
This page is only available on servers that allow proprietary access.

Password Reminder Page
Users who have forgotten their password may enter
their personal or proposal account username on this page. The
password will be emailed to the address we have on record for
that account. If this is a proposal account with both a
